Newton thought about why things fall down and not up or sideways, and got the idea of gravity.
When Archimedes got out of the bath, he saw that the water went down.
Archimedes shouted "Eureka" because he understood that the level of water that was in the bath was related to exactly how much of his body was in the water. And because he was Greek, not English :)
These discoveries are not complete accidents, because Archimedes and Newton really did come up with important ideas that changed the way we view the world today.
